It’s OK to Believe - With Shane Plummer as featured on QHN

Shane Plummer with family sitting on Santa's lap for Christmas

Last week, after some Futurity fatigue, my wife, Jane, and I were invited by my parents to spend a few days with them, my brother and his wife in New York City. It was really great to spend some quality time with all of them.

We had prearranged plans to attend a few Broadway plays. How to use the rest of our time? We kind of made plans on the fly. One day, we went into the largest Macy’s store in the world, and they had a neat “Santaland” display. In the display, well, lo and behold, there was old Saint Nicolas himself!

Getting a photo with Santa is always warranted, I don’t care how old you are. Santa asked me, “What is it that you want for Christmas this year?” I said, “I’m good, Santa. I have everything I need.” Santa looked me in the eye and quietly said, “You don’t want to hurt Santa’s feelings do you? I think you should just tell me.”

So, I told Santa, “I want an official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-range shot model air rifle.” No, I didn’t say that, but I should have. If you don’t know what I’m referring to, Google, my friend! You’re welcome.

The very next day, I got a very welcomed phone call. Santa sure looked out for me, as we were approached by the new owner of High Brow CD to stand this outstanding leading sire! I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity that Mr. Shank Collins, of Home Place Horse & Cattle Co., has given us. Christmas certainly came early for SDP this year! We are grateful for the trust and responsibility our beloved stallion owners give to us.

I named this blog entry, “It’s OK to Believe,” because that is exactly what we do in the horse industry. A breeder breeds because they believe they are producing their next champion or profitable venture. A buyer buys because they believe their purchase will lead them to success. An entry is paid because of the belief that success is going to follow. We believe, therefore we do. Try believing and not doing anything. See how far that gets you.

From my family to yours, I wish you a very merry Christmas. May God bless y’all in the new year!
