Time Flies - With Shane Plummer as seen on QHN
This edition of Industry Insider with SDP will be a little different then the ones we have submitted in the past, so bear with me. My name is Shella Langford and I am the marketing director at SDP Buffalo Ranch. Shane has given me the honor of submitting this blog, and I am excited to do it.
I just finished reading a book titled The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom.
It is about the creation of time, and what I mean by that is when time began to be measured. There were a few paragraphs that really stuck with me as I was reading; I would like to share them and give you some things to think about.
“Consider the word ‘time.’ We use so many phrases with it. Pass time. Waste time. Kill time. Lose time. In good time. About time. Take your time. Save time. A long time. Right on time. Out of time. Mind the time. Be on time. Spare time. Keep time. Stall for time. There are as many expressions with “time” as there are minutes in the day. But once, there was no word for it all. Because no one was counting.”
“Try to imagine life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays.
“Man alone measures time.
“Man alone chimes the hour.
“And because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures.
“A FEAR OF TIME RUNNING OUT.”
I recently experienced time running out with a loss of someone I dearly loved. As part of that experience, time became invaluable to me. I treasured every minute, every single second, through that process. I would give anything for another day or another moment. Along with time is timing, and that loss, with this book and now sharing it in this blog, couldn’t come at a better time for me. Those words in that book stuck with me. I would recommend that book to anyone; there is so much truth within it.
People, time flies. And before we know it, we are not only looking at ourselves aging, but we notice everything around us change and age. You’ve heard the phrase: nothing can be certain, except death and taxes. Death, for sure, yes. Taxes, well, if you want to stay in the good graces of the IRS, then yes. But time, like death, is certain! It is something we bet on to always come. We bet on it like it is the safest bet we can make, almost assuming that tomorrow WILL come. Yet, in my opinion, that is the most reckless bet we could ever make. Don’t put off until tomorrow what can be done today. Work toward your goals, make that phone call you have been putting off, tell the people who you care deeply for how you feel, take that trip. Whatever it is, try to do it!
I have been at Buffalo Ranch for a year and a half, and it seems like yesterday when I started. I have grown to think of the ranch and the people here as part of my family. As family, we share in the things that challenge us and we celebrate in the success we have together.
Thinking of success and time in relation to what we do here at Buffalo Ranch, two things come to the top of my mind – Cattalou and Sannman. They came to the ranch a little over a year ago, and I remember how exciting that time was. Cattalou: FLAWLESS, sired by the greatest of all-time, High Brow Cat, and out of a million-dollar producing mare, Louella Again. Sannman: A RARE GEM, sired by the great Metallic Cat and out of the third-leading producing mare of all-time, The Smart Look. Both in their first year at stud, and both were still competing. It was so exciting to watch them compete and have success. And to see the excitement grow and people accept them, and want to breed to them and be a part of their stories.
As we wrapped up the breeding season last year, I literally said it seems like it will be forever until we get to see their first foals. But here it is, like a blink of an eye, 2017. We are seeing these foals come into the world, and they are truly incredible. I have no doubts that these two stallions will not only be proven performers, but proven sires as well.
Buffalo Ranch for the 2017 breeding season; we have legendary stallions and exciting junior stallions, and we are rockin’ it! I can say with confidence that there is no better team out there than ours. Our customer service is second to none, and we are worldwide leaders! I am very proud of who we are and what we do!
There is a stout roster here atThe time is NOW to be a part of what’s going on at Buffalo Ranch, and we will all share in this amazing journey together! In closing, I will remind you, don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Time waits for no man.
